Leasing cars
At BHA, if you choose to lease or rent a car (rather than buy one) you will helped with this at the beginning of the year during Orientation. Leasing companies, such as Jeju-rent-a-car are located right by jeju International airport. If you are not with BHA, check with your school as to how they help you with this.
FYI - the leasing car groups also do short term rentals for any visitors you may get to the island.
At BHA, the HR department set up a morning where, amongst other reps, the car leasing reps for the group they have chosen to help with car leasing will be present for you to look at the options available to you, for both short-term renting or long-term leasing.
You can choose to: -
- Rent for a month or so until you find the car you want to buy
- Lease a car long-term - you will be supplied with a temporary rental car for the time between the day you sign up for this option and the day your car gets delivered.
- not have a vehicle at all
(Be aware though that shops are a long way away, and while there is a bus that can get you to Moseulpo, it is not as convenient as having your own mode of transport. If you are lucky enough to find someone who doesn't mind being your taxi for the year, then count your blessings, and at least offer them gas money on a regular basis! LOL)
The leasing option usually includes: -
- your (fully comprehensive) insurance
- roadside assistance
- regular check ups for your vehicle
- help with any accidents
- help with any thing that goes wrong with the vehicle
You will be offered a range of vehicles (usually four levels of expense and size). The colours interestingly enough are limited.
You can easily have a white, silver or grey car, in any shape and size. A blue or red one can take up to six months to get.
Look around you... what are the predominant car colours you see on the roads? Or in car parks? ;-)
