What do the bills look like here?
(Go to the end of this post to see how to pay your bills)
Good question! Unless you are primed to look out for these in your mail box, then you may well throw these away as junk mail!
Your ELECTRICITY bill... and other things.
This one bill encompasses the following fees: -
This bill comes once a month around the middle of the month. You have two weeks to pay it. It's usually due on the last day of the month.
It is not easy to give you an estimate of roughly what a monthly bill is for this. The amount varies on whether you have your heating on in winter, or the A/C running in summer, whether you use your dryer a lot, etc. (The example shows a February bill for a ground floor apartment that has the floor heating on constantly during the winter months.)
Here is what your Electricity bill will look like. It comes all folded up, and doesn't look like it should be a bill, more of a flyer. It just arrives in your post box, and doesn't come in an envelope.
- General management fees
- Security
- Trash disposal
- General grounds maintenance
- Elevator maintenance
- Building Insurance
- Electricity used in your apartment
- Water used in your apartment

Your GAS bill
This bill also comes once a month around the middle of the month. You also have two weeks to pay it. It's usually due on the last day of the month. After major holidays like Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and the Lunar New Year in January, your bill might show up a little late. It's completely normal and it won't make you past due.
Most of the Raon housing runs on Electricity. However, gas is also used for things like heating up the water, The amount varies and depends entirely on your consumption.

How to pay your bills
Option 1
Go to your bank in person and pay them over the counter.
There is an NH bank just very close to BHA and KIS, next to Raon.
The closest ShinHan bank branches are in Moseulpo, E-mart in Seogwipo, and Jeju City.
Option 2
Once you set your bank account, whether it's with the ShinHan bank or NH, you can then set things up to pay just about everything online, including your monthly bills.
Arrange this option with your banks.
The ShinHan bank have a very useful, all English speaking call centre that will help you with everything at the other end of the phone. This option is a real pain to set up in the beginning (as is the online banking and overseas transfers) but once it's set up, it's actually really good!
